Christmas 2011 recap

December always seems so hurried and rushed with a million activities crammed in! I wanted to take is slow and enjoy the season. I wanted to have a cookie decorating party with friends, I wanted to take the kids to Garden D’lights, and to see the Reindeer, and to ride the carousel downtown. Instead I opened a studio in Greenlake (more on that later). Don’t get me wrong we still did a lot of stuff (probably too much) and the kids had a lot of fun but this year was scaled back a bit.
Simon after he lit all 24 advent candles on Christmas Eve

and our advent wreath with the hope, peace, joy, and love candles all lit. Only the Christ candle remained and we lit in Christmas morning (but I forgot to take a picture)

our advent spiral, Mary on her donkey all the way at the center.

My little loves after they opened their Christmas jammies on Christmas eve. They were so sweet and just thrilled to be opening any present. We took them to Christmas eve service in their pajamas, I thought most people would do this with their kids my I think mine were the only ones not dressed up!

Christmas morning, Simon was so excited about his skateboard that he wanted SO badly. He of course had to eat his breakfast ON it. I thought it was too funny. I made overnight french toast – so easy! I will definitely be doing that next year again.

Making Christmas cookies… Talia is my little helper. She learned to climb up the step stool before she even learned to walk independently. She is happy to stand there and transfer objects in and out of containers while I cook.

Simon decorating said cookies – this is serious business! next year we will have a cooking decorating party again. (in fact we may do something for valentines day)
