I really wanted to get up to Mt. Vernon and take some photos in the tulip fields this year but I had back to back births to photograph in April and I knew I didn’t dare go that far from the city less someone go into labor. Tuesday, my second birth client had her baby (photos from that to come soon) and so Wednesday we made the drive. Of course it was probably the hottest day of the year thus far and terrible light for photos (typically I like it overcast or late in the day). But I also don’t like going to festivals on the weekends if it can be avoided because of the number of people you have to compete with. After stomping around in the Tulip fields for some time the kids were pretty hungry so we visited the skagit valley co-op for some dinner. I love that co-op! mostly because of the huge windows and all of the natural light flooding in but they have some wonderful coffee and ice cream. (I had promised the kids ice-cream for taking photos)

When is the festival? Nice pictures.
it’s always in April. If you look up the Skagit Valley chamber of commerce they post the exact dates on their website http://www.tulipfestival.org/.
